When you describe Ryan Ackerman, two words come to mind: Energy and performance. Make that high energy and high performance. This dynamic real estate professional grew up in the business; his mother, Barbara and father, Gary, are leaders in Sarasota-Manatee real estate.

Born and raised in Sarasota on Siesta Key, Ryan enjoys an intimate knowledge of the Sarasota-Manatee region. As a child and teen, his close relationship with his parents gave him front row seats on our area's real estate scene. Even then, he realized that this vocation offered the perfect combination of strategy, hands-on entrepreneurship and pure excitement.

After high school, Ryan earned a bachelor's degree with a concentration in finance from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business. Following graduation, Ryan worked in the commercial real estate brokerage division of the Atlanta-based Ackerman & Co., where he deftly managed high-profile lease negotiations and complex property and financial analysis. In 2000, Ryan moved to Miami and started working for CBRE, Inc., the world’s largest commercial real estate firm. In his 15 years there, Ryan was involved in the leasing and disposition of more than $600 million dollars of real estate transactions.

Ryan, his wife, Sepideh, and their two daughters moved to Sarasota in 2015. In his new role with The Ackerman Group, Ryan brings each client a Sarasota native's deeply informed sense of place, a commitment to community, an entrepreneur's drive, and the next-generation's technical mastery and creative flair. He understands that today's complex real estate environment demands a multidisciplinary approach based on an astute knowledge of the ever-changing market. Above all, Ryan understands that real estate is all about building lasting relationships.

"I'm a good listener," he says. Each client has his or her own needs and tastes. My job is to listen to what those needs are and then work together to create that reality. For me, real estate is an all-consuming passion. After all, it’s in my blood; I grew up in the business!

Originally from Pittsburgh and New York City, where she earned a MA from NYU, she came to Sarasota when it was a much smaller town.
